MSG John K. Cutter enlisted in the United States Army in 1997 and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training as an 11B (Infantryman) at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Throughout his 14-year career, MSG Cutter has served in every enlisted leadership position from Team Leader, Squad Leader, Section Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Observer Controller, First Sergeant and Senior Military Science Instructor.
MSG Cutter’s most recent assignment was as the First Sergeant for Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment for the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 10-11. MSG Cutter was also deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 3rd Brigade Combat team 4th Infantry Division.
MSG Cutter’s military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, the Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, the Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, and the First Sergeants Course. He is currently pursuing an Associates Degree from Central Texas College.
MSG Cutter’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd award), Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Army Commendation Medal (6th award), Army Achievement Medal (5th award), Good Conduct Medal (4th award), Iraq Campaign Medal (2 bronze service stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th award), Nato Medal(3rd award), Kosovo Medal(1 bronze star), Humanitarian Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4th award), and Army Service Ribbon. Additionally he has been awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, German Qualification Badge and Drivers Badge (wheel). MSG Cutter is the recipient of the Order of Saint Maurice (Centurion).
