THANK YOU, JUDGES! You help make the day a success and a memorable day for the students.
Dr. William R. Sigmund, Professor of Biology and University Coordinator, opened the meeting. Dr. Robert Smith, SRU President, welcomed and thanked the judges at the luncheon at Weisenfluh Dining Hall.
Leah Ann Williams, Region IX Co-Director from New Castle High School, conducted the meeting.
Personal note from Dr.Sigmund, University Coordinator:
Four years ago, Region IX presented me with an original PJAS medallion and a donation to the university to fund an annual award in my name. I am pleased that I have been able to present a $200. award each year to a biology major interested in teaching. At the annual Natural Sciences and Mathematics Honors Banquet, the "William R. Sigmund PJAS Award" has been presented to four deserving students, Rebecca Pike, Susan Vangavree, Jessie Rack, and Kadie Fritz. This year I will be increasing the stipend to $300. I am extremely grateful to the Region IX Committee for this wonderful recognition. I am especially honored since I know how much work the other committee members put into this meeting each year, as it is truly a group effort, and I accept this award on behalf of all of them. Thank you, Region IX Committee!
