Slippery Rock University awards two $12000 scholarships ($3000/year, renewable for four years) to the Outstanding Senior (Grade 12) and Oustanding Junior (Grade 11) Presenters:

The six Special Award Winners pictured above earned $100 and these awards from the foolwing SRU Academic Departments:

Senior High Biology:
David Shipe
Freeport Senior High School, Grade 11

    David earned his sponsor, Donald Orlowski, the Senior High Biology "Mentor Award" ($200 for school science supplies from the Department of Biology)

Junior High Biology:
Hannah Broniszewski
Quigley Catholic High School, Grade 9

    Hannah earned her sponsor, Janet Bonislawsky, the Junior High Biology "Mentor Award" ($200 for school science supplies from the Department of Biology)

 SPOTLIGHT
800 high school and junior high students, teacher-sponsors and parents met in the Robert M. Smith Center Ballroom on on Saturday evening for the PJAS Awards Ceremony.  

Dr. William Sigmund, University Coordinator of the meeting, opened the event and welcomed the students, sponsors,and parents  to Slippery Rock University.  

Region IX Committee Co-Chair Bob Penrose announced the results and the Region IX award winners. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Sigmund presented the SRU Special Award winners (pictured below) with $100 awards to the outstanding junior high and senior high presenters in their fields from the SRU Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry Departments.   

Winning biology presenters also earned their sponsors a $200 Mentor Award to be spent on biological/science supplies.

Additional awards were provided by the Region IX Committee.
