The Traditional Track does not focus on a specific type of chemistry. Rather, it spans the five foundational disciplines of chemistry: organic, analytical, inorganic, physical, and biochemistry. Required in-depth courses include Physical Chemistry II (quantum mechanics), instrumental analysis; electives include Biochemistry II, Forensic Analysis, and research. At least 400 hours of laboratory coursework in the five foundational areas of chemistry must be completed. Following approval by the American Chemical Society the traditional track will serve as the ACS certified degree program. The traditional track is well-suited for those seeking a position in private industry or in a government laboratory following graduation, or for those seeking admission into graduate or professional school.
