According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Physician Assistant (PA) profession is ranked as the third fastest-growing profession in the country. "Employment of Physician Assistants is expected to increase 30 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations. As more physicians enter specialty areas of medicine, there will be a greater need for primary healthcare providers, such as Physician Assistants. Good job prospects are expected. This should be particularly true for Physician Assistants working in rural and medically underserved areas, as well as Physician Assistants working in primary care."
While SRU does not have a graduate program for Physician Assistants, SRU does, however, have an articulation agreement with Chatham University whereby Chatham will reserve two (2) of the approximately 70 seats in their Masters of Physician Assistant Studies program for two (2) Slippery Rock students from selected undergraduate majors. You develop expertise while utilizing advanced technology and hands on learning experiences under the careful supervision of a student-centered faculty. The Slippery Rock University Exercise Science Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP).
