Dr. Bonnie J. Siple is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Rehabilitative Sciences at Slippery Rock University. Dr. Siple teaches a variety of the professional courses in the ATEP and serves on several department, college and university committees. In addition to her service to the university, Dr. Siple has had the privilege to serve on the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification Examination Committee (BOC). She has also served the BOC as an examiner training facilitator, examiner, exam day video model and proctor. Dr. Siple has presented at the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association annual meetings as well as the NATA Educators’ Conference. Slippery Rock University is Dr. Siple's alma mater, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Health Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training and a minor in Gerontology. She earned her master's degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She completed her doctoral degree at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA where she was enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program for Educational Leaders. Her dissertation was titled, “From the Margins to the Center: A Qualitative Study Giving Voice to Black Women in Athletic Training Education Programs”. Dr. Siple was a recipient of a 2007 NATA Athletic Trainer Service Award. She is originally from Brockway, PA but now resides in Cranberry Township, PA.
