Flash Yarger Award for GGE students

The Flash Yarger Scholarship has been established at Slippery Rock University in the Department of Geography, Geology, and the Environment. The merit-based scholarship award is available to eligible second semester freshman or first semester sophomores. This award is renewable.

Amount of Flash Yarger Award for 2013: $900.00/year

Criteria:

First semester sophomore (can apply in the spring of freshman year).
Applicant must be a full-time student.
Preference is given to Pennsylvania residents.
First preference is given to students in Geology, then to others majors in GGE.
Must be committed to excellence and academic success.
Overall QPA must be equal to or greater than 3.0 to receive and maintain this scholarship.

Application Procedure:

Complete the application form.
Write a personal statement addressing: why you selected this major. Provide a description of an experience that either led you to initially choose your program or an experience that you had in class that solidified your program choice.Your personal statement should be well written and at a minimum 500 words in length.
Submit the personal statement and application form by March 26, 2013 to Mrs. Cynthia Schnur in ATS 319.
