Michael A. Starker Award for Environmental Studies
The Michael A. Starker Environmental Studies Scholarship has been established at Slippery Rock University in the Department of Geography, Geology, and the Environment. The merit-based scholarship award is available annually to eligible second semester sophomores and juniors.
Amount of Starker Award: up to $1,000.00
Criteria:
- Second semester sophomore, junior, or first semester senior status at time of application.
- Be currently enrolled full-time the environmental studies program with a minumum of nine credits earned in the major .
- Minimum 3.0 QPA overall earned at Slippery Rock University.

Write a personal statement addressing: why you selected this major. Provide a description of an experience that either led you to initially choose your program or an experience that you had in class that solidified your program choice. Your personal statement should be well written and at a minimum 500 words in length.
- Submit the personal statement and application form by March 26, 2013 to Cindy Schnur in 319 Advanced Technology and Science Hall.
The scholarship recipient will be invited to the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Honors Banquet on April 18.
