SPOTLIGHT

Gypsy Chicken Wagon
This mobile chicken coop provides shelter for up to 16 laying hens from April thru November.  The coop is moved weekly to allow the chickens continual access to fresh pasture. The chickens forage for bugs, seeds, green grasses and other herbaceous plants all while distributing their manure over the pasture.  That manure feeds the soil, effectively fertilizing the pasture which promotes regrowth of the plants.  We supplement the hens diet with a mix of local organic grains.

Predators are discouraged by using a movable electric fence powered by a solar panel (with battery backup) on the roof of the wagon.  The wagon was constructed primariliy from salvaged materials.
