April 2014 

  •  April 3-4   Alexandra Mitchel gave a presentation "Parameter Optimization for Preprocessing in fMRI Brain Image Analysis" at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research at the University of Kentucky.
  • Aprli 4-5   Shane Whitacre gave a talk "The Life and Legacy of Hypatia" at the Spring Meeting of the Allegheny Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America at Westminster College.
  • April 10 Alexandra Mitchel gave a presentation "Parameter Optimization for Preprocessing in fMRI Brain Image Analysis" at the Slippery Rock University Undergraduate Resear4ch Conference in STEM

February 2014

  • February 6-10  2014 Mathematical Contest in Modeling - Maben, Alexander-Mathematics major, along with Team 31330 members Eric Corrado, computer science major, and Robert Arblaster, physics major, received Meritorious results .  Also receiving Meritorious results were Team 31327 consisting of Ellis Neilly, physics major,  Samuel Lotz, biology major, and Daniel Arnett, computer science major.  Receiving Honorable Mention were Team 31338 members Kevin Weigle, Jordan Ewing, and Dustin Klingensmith, physics majors.   Danielle Faggioli, Kalene Ireland, and James Yarbrough, mathematics majors, received Successful Participant as did Brittany Drew, Tyler Dunbar, Matthew H. Scott, physics majors
  • Febuary 22 Danielle Faggiole gave a talk "The Fibonacci Sequences" at he Youngstown State University PI Mu Epsilon Regional Conference.

January 2014

  • January 4-8  Brett Brown, Shane Mattson and Bradley Windhorst attendend the 2014 Joint Winter Meetings of the American Mathematiccs Society and Mathematical Association of America in Baltamore MD. 

Summer 2013

  • Shane Mattson was awarded a summer position with Progressive as an Analyst Intern. 

April 2013

  • April 5 -6  Amber Adams, Grace Evans, Stephen Galloway, Marisa Jendrasik, Alex Maben,  Quentin Panger,  Scott Pitzer, and Brad Spangler attended the 2013 Allegheny Mountain Section of the MAA.  Brad Spangler presented Juggling the Numbers.  Amber Adams and Marisa Jendrasik presented ‘A New Level of Tic-Tac-Toe.  Grace Evans presented The In’s and Out’s of Card Shuffling. Quentin Panger presented Go and Solvable Endgame Scenarios Via Partitioning. Stephen Galloway and Alex Maben presented Paring Through the Deck. Scott Pitzer presented How Much Damage Can Your Pokemon Do?

February 2013

  • February 1-4 Bret Brown,-Mathematics major, along with   mathematics majors Nicholas Cercone, Alexander Maben, Shane Mattson, Ryan Slean, Bradley Spangler, Michael Tasota, and Steven Ways are participating in the 2013 Mathematics Modeling Contest.  Also competing are Shane Chesnutt, Alexander McCracken, Kelly Smith-Computer Science majors and Cory Dolbashian, Nicklaus Steele, Matthew Wozniak-Physics majors.  Their advisors are Athula Herat, Richard Marchand, and Robert Vallin, Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock.
  • Steven Ways passed Actuarial Exam FM
  • February 19 Katherine Sopczynski - Mathematics major, gave a presentation on her trip to the Nebraska Conference  in January at the STEM Undergraduate Research event.

January 2013

  • January 25-27 Katherine Sopczynski -Mathematics major, along with Brittany Stouffer - Mathematics major,  attended the Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics where Sopczynski presented Dowker Notations of Knots.  Stouffer participated with her poster abstract entitled The Hausdorff Metric on the Real Plane.   They were accompanied by Jacqueline Jensen, Lincoln, NE .

September 2012

  •  September 28 Barrett, Jacqueline-Mathematics major, along with Brett Brown, Zachary Busch, Amanda Goodrick, Taryn Gulkewicz, Shane Mattson, Kyria McMillan, Michael Mesinere, Nathaniel Sofranko, Lauren Spezialetti, Alex Villegas attended the Robert Morris University Actuarial Career Day in Moon, PA .
