Outstanding School Nurse Graduate Student Honor Recipient-2013
On Sunday, May 5, 2013, Alexis Spade was honored as the Outstanding Nursing Graduate Honors Recipient. Alexis received her school nurse certification from Slippery Rock University in 2012 and is currently employed as a certified school nurse for the Southern Columbia Area School District. The award is given yearly to a student who shows exemplary academic and leadership qualities through graduate studies. The Graduate Honors Reception is to honor students who are exceptional and demonstrate excellence in their program of study.
Alexis was presented with the award by Dr. Diana Jones, Department Chair for the Department of Nursing and Dr. Peggy Shipley, Coordinator of the School Nurse Certification Program.
Outstanding School Nurse Graduate Honor Recipient-2014
On Sunday, April 27, 2014, Lynne Rodrigues was presented with the 2014 Outstanding School Nurse Award. Lynne is a 1990 BSN graduate from Catholic University and has spent the majority of her nursing career caring for children and young adults. She is currently working at Allegheny and Children's hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Lynne is also serving as a substitute certified school nurse for 3 different school districts in the Pittsburgh area. Lynne was chosen from all of the school nurse certification students from the past year based on her strong academic scholarship, excellent communication skills with parents, students and faculty, professional manner in her representation of the professional school nursing role, strong leadership skills and practicum preceptor feedback. Lynne currently resides in the Pittsburgh area with her husband and 4 children. Nancy Swartz was also chosen to receive this award but was unable to attend the Awards Ceremony.
