 Peggy Shipley 



Peggy is an assistant professor of nursing at
Slippery Rock University and entered the
nursing profession after graduating from Penn State University in 1981 with a BS in music education. 
After teaching secondary band/choir, she changed careers and earned her BSN in
nursing from Penn State University in 1989 and her school nurse certification from Lycoming College in 1993. 
She received her MSN from University of
Phoenix in 2004 and her PhD in nursing from Penn State University in 2012. 
Her research interests include: palliative care, end-of-life caregiving, family caregiving, qualitative research, nursing theory and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.  She is a certified school nurse with 18+ years of school nursing experience and 10 years experience as an ICU/CCU nurse. 
A mother of two, she enjoys playing the piano and flute, participating in a local municipal band and flute choir, knitting, quilting, and spending time with her husband, children, and assortment of SPCA rescue cats (4) and dog.
