Once the semester begins, you will be assigned an Advisor, who is a faculty member in the Department of Psychology. You will have regular meetings with your Advisor to plan the remainder of your curriculum at SRU.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with department standards and requirements for Pscyhology Majors. Of particular concern to new transfer students is the standard to maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Because actual grades do not transfer in, you will not have a GPA until after your first semester, and then it will be based ONLY on the classes you have taken at SRU. Be especially mindful of this because, for example, if you register for only one PSYCH class and receive a C, your GPA will be 2.0 and you will receive a letter placing you on probation. Once you are placed on probation, you must bring your Psychology GPA up to at least a 2.5 with the next Psychology class you take. You must then maintain that GPA for the remainder of your degree program. If you do not do so, you will be dismissed from the Psychology program. Dismissals are permanent and students are not readmitted after they have been dismissed.
