 Equestrian Team Information

About the Equestrian Teams:

Storm Harbor is home to the SRU English and Western Team. The Equestrian Teams are a co-ed group of students who show in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) circuit. The teams compete against other region 5/zone 6 Colleges and Universities in Hunter/Jumper Classes as well as Western Events.

The teams are open to any student who is currently enrolled at Slippery Rock University. The SRU Equestrian Teams do not discriminate based on age, gender, race, sexual orientation, or experience level. All that we require is an interest in horses and an eagerness to become a member of a great team! Before working with the horses at Storm Harbor, Team members are required to complete a set of Volunteer Forms for liability and safety reasons.

The purpose of the team is to promote riding skills through riding lessons and also to foster the growth of everyone as both an individual rider and as part of the team. The team feels that emphasis on communication between horse and rider is key to a successful experience. Members are focused on learning about horsemanship, sharing their love of riding, and having fun as a team. Currently two teams are available to join. An english or hunt seat team and a western team.
