Assistant Professor - Painting


Heather Hertel is Assistant Professor of Painting in the SRU Art Department. She has lived and worked in Miami, FL which continues to influence her. Through the pursuit of sharing her work, Heather has acquired regional solo shows and has participated in national juried exhibits in Virginia, California, Wisconsin, New York, Florida and D.C. In 2007, Heather organized a Northwestern Pennsylvania Artist Association (NPAA) ‘Selected Artists’ exhibit at Lucky Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. Recently, Heather investigates Collaborative projects. She organized a Collaborative Drawing at SRU (2008), gathered students/ faculty of SRU to participate in the Sketchbook Project/ traveling exhibition out of Atlanta Art House, Atlanta, GA (2009), created a Cross Discipline Collaborative working with Visual Arts & Dance students/faculty at SRU (2009) and performed at NPAA ‘Nuts & Boltz’ opening with vocalist Katie Chriest and movement artist Lani Weissbach, Erie, PA (2009). Heather continues to create through painting, drawing, and collaborative works.
