 Dance Minor

Dance Minor

The dance minor is designed to prepare students to apply dance principles, concepts and techniques in their chosen professional environments.  Individuals pursuing a dance minor are required to complete a minimum of 27 hours of designated courses.  Dance minor students must follow the same audition procedures outlined for the dance major.

All Dance Minors are required to demonstrate proficiency at Level II in Modern, Ballet and Jazz Technique and may be able to continue their study of dance by taking Level III – VI technique courses (permission of instructor required).  Level I technique classes may be required of some Dance Minors, which can be counted for the SRU Liberal Studies requirement.

Curriculum Guide

The dance minor with the elementary education major is a popular combination at SRU.  Many of our dance minors eventually become double-majors which makes them even more marketable in the workforce.
