The SRU Department of Dance offers a unique course devoted to the intersection of dance and technology. Integrating hands-on camera work, along with video editing software and live choreography, students shoot, edit, and present an original video dance as a class project. They complete the semester with an interactive project in which they combine a live dancer(s) with projected video imagery. The SRU Department of Dance houses a state-of-the-art computer lab with a scanner, color and black and white printers, teacher’s consul with flat screen monitor, five wireless mac pro workstations, four mac laptops that are portable to the studio, six canon digital cameras, and software including Final Cut Pro video editing software, Isadora, and DanceForms. Video dances and live choreography are shown in the newly renovated Field House Dance Studio that sports multiple projection surfaces and theatrical lighting.
