The Bailey Vox Reading Series, sponsored by SLAB, is held the third Thursday of every month from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Special Collections room of Bailey Library. The reading series is open to students and faculty wishing to share their own creative, specifically literary, work. Give-a-ways and food are part of that fun! Questions should be directed to SLAB managing editors, Tristina Marx (tam0611@sru.edu) and Paul Cunningham pec5124@sru.edu).

Poet Jeffrey Schrader to run workshop and read at Bailey Vox, October 21, 6:00-8:00, Special Collections Bailey Library. Jeffrey recently moved to Pittsburgh, PA from Oakland, CA. His most recent books are Art Fraud (BlazeVOX), and gridpattern (Erg - forthcoming). He was a founding member of the Uglyman Collective, and is currently an associate editor for Cricket Online Review. Workshop and reading open to all!

American Sign Language mini-classes, 8 weeks, begins September 22, 2010

Film Showing and Review by Acclaimed Critic Deutelbaum
"Reversibility in Hong Sangsoo's TURNING GATE," featuring guest speaker Marshall Deutelbaum who is Professor Emeritus in Film at Purdue University.

Deutelbaum's books include "IMAGE" ON THE ART AND EVOLUTION OF THE FILM and A HITCHCOCK READER (1st and 2nd editions).  Over the past thirty years, he has also published articles on many topics including silent film, color, costuming, widescreen, and composition in WIDE ANGLE, THE COLOR READER, FILM CRITICISM, FILM HISTORY, and LITERATURE/FILM QUARTERLY.  In Asian studies, Deutelbaum has published on both Kurosawa Akira and HONG Sang-soo.
