REID DAVENPORT AND THE WHEELCHAIR DIARIES

SPOTLIGHT

REID DAVENPORT AND THE WHEELCHAIR DIARIES

Thursday, May 1, 5:30 p.m.

Vincent Science Center 105

What would you do if you were discouraged from following your dream? In 2012 Reid Davenport set his sights on a study broad program in Italy, but was asked to reconsider when he revealed that he has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair.

The study abroad program cited a lack of accessibility. Undaunted by that discouragement, he not only went abroad but also made an award-winning documentary about accessibility in Europe. Reid and his inspiring story have been featured in The Washington Post and National Public Radio, and his documentary has been screened at numerous regional festivals including the DC Independent Film Festival and the Utopia Film Festival. Join us for a special screening of The Wheelchair Diaries: One Step Up followed by a Q&A with the extraordinary Reid Davenport. Additional support for this event has been provided by the SRU Council on Exceptional Children and the President’s Commission on Disability Issues.
