 Mural Restoration

SPOTLIGHT

Mosaic Mural Restoration Project @ the SRU Center for Extended

Learning (165 Elm Street)
In April 2009 the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival hosted a landmark
residency with mural artist Edward Grout to create a permanent
installation that reflects the diversity of the Slippery Rock community. The artist was joined in the mosaic mural making project by students and faculty from the Slippery Rock University College of Humanities, Fine, and Performing Arts; the SRU Center for Lifelong Learning and Community Learning; and art students from the Slippery Rock Area School District (Grades 9-12.) The 2009 project was made possible by an Artist and Communities grant, a program of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, funded through The Heinz Endowments, the William Penn Foundation and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. This year the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival undertakes a residency with the artist to restore and repair the unique details of the mosaic mural in celebration of its lasting commitment to the Slippery Rock community. Join us April 20-May 1, 2015 for our full calendar of events. For more information about the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival, please visit
