Research Interests 

Dr. Evans current areas of research include assessment of counselor disposition for practice, supervision issues related to counselor attire and chosen appearance, socioeconomic class and counselor development, faculty and institutional characteristics of non-CACREP counselor education programs. He has published articles in national and international journals and regularly presents his research at state and national counselor conferences. He currently serves as an Associate Professor in the School Counseling Program in the Department of Counseling and Development at Slippery Rock University where he has served as the Coordinator of the School Counseling Program and as the Graduate Coordinator.

Practitioner Experience

Dr. Evans has been in the counseling and human services field since 1982 and has extensive experience in a wide variety of mental health, private practice, public school and drug and alcohol treatment environments. In addition to his academic work as a counselor educator, he maintains a private practice where he provides child and adolescent assessment services and individual, couple and family counseling.
