 Meet Dr. Wei Bian 

 

SPOTLIGHT

Biography: Dr. Wei (Willa) Bian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical and Health Education at Slippery Rock University. She received her Bachelor Degree and first Masters degree majoring in Physical Education and Sport Training from Beijing Sport University, China. She used to play for one of the top volleyball teams in China and has many years of teaching and coaching experience. Dr. Bian received her second Masters degree in Physical Education with a concentration on Teaching/Coaching and Sport Psychology from University of Northern Iowa. In addition, she received her Ph.D. in 2003 from The University of Georgia with a major in Sport Pedagogy and a minor in Instructional Technology.

Dr. Bian has taught many courses at all levels since she joined with SRU Physical and Health Education Department in 2007. She travels around area elementary and secondary schools to supervise student field experience and student teaching. Her research interest focuses on teaching/coaching expertise, alternative assessment in physical education, and technology application in physical education. She loves children and enjoys watching children participate in various physical activities and games in physical education classes.  She likes to play volleyball with her students and practice Tai Chi at home.
