Recreational Opportunities Connecting Kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder
June 17-28, 2013  9-3PM YMCA/ARMCO Park

Slippery Rock University and the Butler County Family YMCA collaborate to create a two week program known as Camp ROCK from June 17 to June 28th from 9am to 3 pm at YMCA Camp/Armco Park in Slippery Rock. Our reverse inclusion program, that deliberately incorporates peer mentors with youth on the autism spectrum, focuses on daily living skills, social skills, problem-solving, individual choice-making through community-based recreational and expressive arts opportunities such as music therapy, theatre, money-management, leisure planning, horseback riding, rock climbing, high ropes course, lifetime physical activities, photography, fishing, and hiking. This program caters to students who need to develop transition skills in order to give them opportunities to directly apply these skills in the community. Contact Betsy Kemeny, elizabeth.kemeny@sru.eduor 724-738-4306 for more information.
