 Veterans with Disabilities Program

SPOTLIGHT

The Veterans with Disabilities Program is held on Fridays in the ARC. Veterans from the VA hospital in Butler participate in a variety of sport activities. University students organize, plan, and implement the activities for each session. These activities are broken down into skill components for the veterans to work on, and by the end of each session the veterans will put the skills together to play a short game. Volunteers are necessary to give the vets the one-on-one assistance that they need, as about 90% of the veterans use a wheelchair.

Some sport activities include:

  • Baseball
  • Frisbee
  • Golf
  • Tennis
  • Horseshoes
  • Football

Storm Harbor Equestrian Center also serves younger veterans with disabilities twice per month. For more info on how to volunteer, please call the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center at 724-738-4010.
