Krista Winslow (Secondary English, 2008)
"I am prepared to teach diverse students in a variety of learning environments because of the education I received from Slippery Rock University. I began my career as a Language Arts Teacher at a Title I middle school in Tallahassee, Florida. Although my first year was challenging, I was able to thrive because of the skills I developed as a student at Slippery Rock University. Additionally, the Secondary Education program provided me with a strong foundation that allowed me to take on leadership roles and earn a master’s degree in school administration. I am now in my fifth year of teaching and currently work as a Writing Teacher at a Title I high school in Miami, Florida."
Ryan Kelly (Secondary Social Studies, 2012)
"I am prepared to fulfill
my responsibilities as an educator because of the Secondary
Education: Social Studies program at Slippery Rock University. Whether it
be serving the needs of all my students, preparing my lesson for
instruction, collaborating with colleagues,
to communicating effectively with parents or leading my
student-athletes on and off the field. Slippery Rock University has provided me
with the foundation to becoming a truly effective educator. I would recommend
Slippery Rock University to anyone seeking a future in education because the
knowledge I received has greatly assisted me as I transitioned from
teacher candidate into my role as a 7th grade Social Studies Teacher at
East Wake Middle School in Raleigh, North Carolina. "
