Slippery Rock University began it's nationally, and internationally, recognized Sport Management program in 1977.  The program services about 150 students each academic year.  Slippery Rock Sport Management students are exposed to a thorough curriculum covering the various aspects of the sport industry.

The program provides students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge through experiences outside the traditional class setting.  Each student is required to complete four practicum, one internship, 120 volunteer hours and attend one conference during their time at Slippery Rock.  Also, each year during spring break, an international program is offered solely for Sport Management students.  During these periods Sport Management students have visited various locations in Europe and South America. The program was most recently the first recipient of the COSMA accreditation.
