 Closing the Interview

Be Sure to Ask the Interviewer Questions

  • If you don't, you risk appearing uninterested. Prepare a few questions in advance, but above all, ask questions that show a response to what you have learned from the interviewer. Questions should be lively rather than formulaic. See the section on Questions to Ask an Interviewer for examples of questions you might ask in an interview.

Thank the Interviewer

  • Be sure to let the interviewer know if you are interested in the position. Ask what the follow-up procedure will be, tell them that you look forward to hearing from them, and thank the interviewer for his or her time.  Again, a firm handshake and a confident smile can go a long way.
