 Graduate Statistics

SPOTLIGHT

These Annual Reports document the progress of SRU graduates. Employment statistics by degree, by college, and by major are provided. When considering college employment statistics from any source or when comparing employment rates among colleges, please keep these factors in mind:
  • The response rate to an employment survey should be at least 50%;
  • Pay attention to the employment categories each college uses to track graduates;
  • Know when the graduates were surveyed and how they were surveyed - see the Executive Summary for each year to learn of SRU's methodology;
  • Any employment survey is a "snapshot" in time - the job paths of recent graduates tend to be fluid during the initial years of their professional careers;
  • Part-time employment within the field may be the best way to gain experience and to eventually earn full-time employment;
  • Graduates in majors that are more related to specific career fields (education, safety management, etc.) are more likely to find "related" employment while a higher percentage of graduates in the liberal arts (English, history) may go to graduate school or find employment in a field "not related" to their major;
  • Career success is defined by each individual; statistics cannot capture a person's motivation, geographic flexibility, and short and long term career goals;
  • If you have questions about interpreting these statistics, please contact the Office of Career Education & Development.
