Estimated Costs

As a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, SRU offers a high quality education at an affordable price. The cost figures listed below represent average, estimated, full-time costs for the academic year (fall and spring semesters).

As one of the 14 universities in Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), our tuition is set each summer by our Board of Governors after the state budget is approved. Official Tuition figures will be posted to the Office of Student Accounts when they become available.

In addition to the estimated billable charges above, we estimate that students may spend approximately $1,495 per academic year for course-related books and supplies.

* Non-Resident Tuition Discount

Slippery Rock University offers an out-of-state tuition reduction program.  In 2013-14 for example, this program will provide a tuition savings of approximately $3,300 for eligible students. First time undergraduate students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on the final high school transcript (freshmen) or college transcripts (transfer student) may qualify for this discount which results in annual net tuition and fees estimated at $12,500. Continuing undergraduate students who have a 2.5 cumulative SRU GPA at the start of the fall semester may qualify for this tuition reduction. A separate application is not necessary; eligible students will be billed at this special tuition rate through the Office of Student Accounts.

** Actual Room Costs

Room charges can vary substantially based upon the room type. Please refer to the Office of Residence Life web page for details on the various room types and charges. This room rate is based on a "double studio" which is one of the most common room types.
