Undergraduate student with 36 or more semester hours at SRU and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Must be involved in extra-curricular activities both off and on campus. Applicants must write a 500-word essay describing his/her academic and career goals as well as his/her personal view of the U.S. labor movement. Applicant must provide three references from SRU faculty and staff. Preference given to students with demonstrated financial need and students with an immediate family member who is a member of a recognized labor union. Fran Hensler Rock Catholic Scholarship

To qualify, the student must be an active member of the Rock Catholic Club, demonstrate financial need as determined by the University Financial Aid Office, and earned a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of application. First preference for the award will be given to students who graduated from Seton-La Salle High School. Second preference will be given to students who lived in the Slippery Rock Area School District at the time of application.Third preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in Information Systems or Information Technology offered through the SRU Computer Science Department. The LGBTQI scholarship will assist any lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning or intersex student in purchasing their books at the SGA Bookstore. The LGBTQI student must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA and demonstrate financial need. Please submit a one-page essay describing involvement in the LGBTQI Community and the situation of financial need. Marjorie Stephenson Scholarship

Criteria: |
Applicants must be undergraduates who have demonstrated strong academic performance. They must have earned a minimum of 30 semester hours at SRU by the conclusion of the spring term during which they apply. Female students of color with majors in the arts, humanities, social sciences and education will recieve highest consideration; others, however, may also apply. Financial need will also be a consideration. An essay entitled How My College Education Will Help Me Pursue My Career Goals is required, along with two letters of recommendation from SRU faculty members. At least one of the recommendations must be from a professor with whom the student has taken a class. The essay should be one to two pages in length and should include campus and community activities and an indicationof financial need. |
