Instructions for Undergraduate - International Applicants
Whether you are a degree-seeking, exchange or visiting student below are step by step instructions to help you apply for international admissions.
Please note: All documents in languages other than English should include a certified English translation in addition to the original language document.
Carefully review the instructions when applying for admission as common oversights, such as photocopies instead of original or certified true copies of documents, will delay a final admission decision.
1. Complete preferred application type
2. Application deadlines
SRU welcomes international students for studies in the fall (August) and spring (January) terms. The deadline for submission of application materials is May 1 for fall admission; for spring admission, it is October 1. Due to potential delays in student visa processing, it is suggested that the admission process be completed as early as possible.
3. Submit required credentials
Official Transcripts from certified secondary and post-secondary school transcripts
- A transcript is a year-by-year listing of courses/subjects, grades/marks earned for each course, and credits earned for each course/subject.
- All transcripts should bear the official school seal and signature of the person issuing the transcript.
- Whenever possible, transcripts should be sent directly from the school.
Other Official documents such as certified copies of all secondary and post-secondary school:
- External examination results (e.g., A-levels, GCE’s, International Baccalaureate results etc)
Verification of English Language Proficiency
This can be verified by submitting one of four test results:
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score report with a minimum score of 500 on the paper test, 173 on the computer based test, or 61 on the internet based test. The Test of Written English is not required but is recommended. TOEFL information is available at http://www.ets.org/toefl SRU’s TOEFL code is 2658.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) results at the 6.0 band or higher. Further information is available at http://www.ielts.org
Official score report from ELS schools in the US, with a 112 result or higher. Further information available at http://www.els.edu/en
4. Verification of Finances
The SRU Financial Support Statement must be completed and submitted along with a bank statement, verifying that funds are available for at least the first year of your studies. Please print and return the Financial Support Statement.
