In keeping with its commitment to preparing citizens of the world, Slippery Rock University has created the International Arts and Cultures Series of special events. Dancers, musicians, artists, chefs and guest lecturers from around the globe give students direct contact with other cultures, enriching their appreciation of diversity and better preparing them for the dynamics of a multi-cultural marketplace.
Recent offerings have included griot music from West Africa, Japanese taiko drumming, art, film and cuisine from Spanish-speaking countries, classical Indian music, traditional music from China and a master percussionist specializing in African music.
Events are held on campus and are open to the public.
The College of Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts, in conjunction with the International Services Office, the Department of Modern Languages, and the Asian Studies Program are pleased to sponsor the International Arts and Cultures Series.
