Video and still cameras, tripods, and audio equipment circulate from the laptop room in the basement of the library. Items are usually three day loans with a $3/day fine for overdues. Extended loans may be made. Items can be renewed up to three times either on the library web page ("renew books" under "search our catalog") or by calling ext. 2865 or in person at the library. An agreement form must be signed and a valid SRU ID must be presented. If equipment is being returned and the laptop room is closed, please stop by the Main Circulation desk on the first floor for assistance. Cameras and equipment circulate to current SRU students, faculty and staff only. The library assumes no responsibility for files left on equipment. Please erase files before returning. Equipment not returned at the end of each semester may be reported to SRU police for collection.
Hours for the laptop/equipment room during the semester are:
Monday through Thursday 10:30am-10:30pm
LAPTOPS CLOSED: SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS, BREAKS, SUMMERS
Wireless Laptop Circulation
Laptop computers are available for SRU student checkout from the laptop circulation desk in the library basement. Laptops are checked out on a "first-come, first-served" basis and are available for use with the Library wireless network only. Laptops may not be reserved. LAPTOPS MAY NOT BE TAKEN FROM THE BUILDING. (If taken from the building or not returned before the laptop room closes, the patron will be charged a $25 fee and be blocked from using laptops for the remainder of the semester.) Laptops circulate for a period of three hours and stop circulating one hour before closing. Hours may vary. Laptops must be returned 15 minutes before closing.
To borrow a laptop, you must use your own VALID SRU ID and must read and sign the agreement form. If borrowers have outstanding library fines or charges that prevent them from checking out other library materials, they will not be allowed to check out laptops. Your I.D. will be held until the laptop is returned.
User files should not be saved to laptops, and the library assumes no responsibility for files left on laptops. Users are not able to install applications on the laptops. Users may print to a networked printer in the laptop circulation area.
Users are responsible for loss, theft, or damage to laptops. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LAPTOP UNATTENDED. In case of a library evacuation, keep the laptop with you. Users will be assessed replacement and/or repair charges as deemed appropriate by the library.
Patrons with a valid SRU ID may use their own laptops with the library wireless, but printing is not available. Patrons without a valid SRU ID are not authorized to use the wireless network with their personal laptops but may ask at the Reference Desk to use a public logon at a desktop computer.
