Budget suggestions: August 30, 2013

My suggestions pertain to revenue and conservation. How about students paying more than $20 for a parking permit and faculty/staff paying for parking. This is the first university I have been to where faculty/staff do not pay for parking. Also, how about turning off lights/computers etc. when not in use. I think we are wasteful when it comes to this. I also wonder about programs that have very few majors and the resources used supporting these programs.

Eliminate the extremely expensive executive position searches. Put a request out to our Alumni, employees, students and friends of SRU to help us find qualified applicants. Offer a contribution to an on campus area of choice to the winner, or tuition reduction if a student or parent of a student finds the applicant who is hired.

Pressure State Government to increase revenues by taxing the natural gas boom our State is and shall continue to be experiencing. Trim back the rapid expansion of Administrative positions.
