Ann Cooper Albright: Reception & Artist Talk
In conjunction with the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival, dancer and scholar Ann Cooper Albright discusses her latest book, How to Land: finding ground in an unstable world, recently published by Oxford University Press. Combining her interests in dancing and cultural theory, Albright foregrounds the importance of embodiment as a means of surviving the disorientation of our twenty-first century world. In this talk, she will use examples from her work in Contact Improvisation to explore the physical and metaphysical implications of falling and failure in order to demonstrate that we can learn how to fall with grace instead of from grace. This event is sponsored by the Departments of Dance, English, Gender Studies and Philosophy.
