Title: Community-Engaged Teaching and Learning: What is it and why does it matter?

Description: This session will present an introductory overview of community-engaged teaching and learning theory and practice. From theoretical underpinnings, fundamental characteristics to evolving trends, participants will gain a broad overview of the field, as well as learn some distinguishing characteristics and examine tangible examples of innovative service-learning and community-engaged work being done nationally. Participants will also engage in a brief interactive and experiential exercise and learn of the resources and support offered through the Office for Community-Engaged Learning at SRU.
