In Honor of Koloman Sokol

The Martha Gault Art Gallery proudly announces the exhibition, “In Honor of Koloman Sokol” featuring twenty-five unique prints created by and published by the Printmaking Department of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava, in December 1992. This portfolio was published as a tribute to the Slovak printmaker Koloman Sokol on the occasion of his 90th birthday. Koloman Sokol (1902-2003) was a prominent Slovak artist, whose influence on Slovak graphic arts is considered seminal. The exhibition includes the poem “Dying Fledging” by Milan Rufus, the Slovakian poet nominated three times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Exhibition on view from February 25, 2019 through March 27, 2019, with an Opening Reception Monday February 25, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The Martha Gault Art Gallery is sponsored by the Art Department, The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Fine & Performing Arts Division and by the Student Government Association. The gallery is located in 102 Maltby Center, on 108 Maltby Ave, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania 16057, and is handicapped accessible. Hours of operation are Monday - Thursday 11 am - 5 pm.
