Opening Reception of Colors

Please join us at the Opening Reception of ‘Colors’ by Barbara Westman, January 28, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Professor Barbara Westman of the Art Department, with colleagues from the Artists' Residency in Poland, present artworks made with natural dyes. The colors used in these artworks can be found in naturally sourced ingredients, and turned into dyes by following traditional recipes and by experimental processes. Natural dyeing present unique challenges in application, providing a different palette of colors and hues available locally. The artists participating with Professor Westman, are, Professor Anna Goebel, University of Fine Arts, Poznań, Poland, Professor Agata Zielińska - Głowacka, Academy of Fine Arts, Gdańsk, Poland, Professor Dorota Taranek, Architecture of Textiles, Łodz University of Technology, Poland, Assistant Professor Dorota Tarnowska - Urbanik, University of Fine Arts, Poznań, Poland. The Exhibition will be on view January 28 through February 21, 2019.
The Martha Gault Art Gallery is sponsored by the Art Department, The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Fine & Performing Arts Division and by the Student Government Association. The gallery is located in 102 Maltby Center, on 108 Maltby Ave, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania 16057, and is handicapped accessible. Hours of operation are Monday - Thursday 11 am - 5 pm.
