 Environmental Health and Safety

SPOTLIGHT

Responsible for most campus safety initiatives, the Safety Office works to ensure University compliance with applicable federal, state and local legislation related to occupational safety and environmental health matters.  EHS collaborates with Facilities & Planning to facilitate maintenance, renovation and construction projects and activities are performed in a safe and compliant manner.  Working in close collaboration with law enforcement and the University Administration, EHS recommends policy and procedure development for risk management and emergency preparedness, promotes a safe and healthy work place, and encourages proactive measures towards sustainability and environmentally responsible programs.

EHS manages the accident reporting and workers’ compensation process for the University.

EHS services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.  Additionally, EHS personnel remain on call twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week to respond to campus emergencies as needed.  If anyone requires emergency safety assistance after hours, please contact the University Police Department at 724-738-3333, who will in turn notify EHS.
