Justin Brown, chief executive officer and president of the Diversity Awareness Program and a 2011 Slippery Rock University graduate, presented "When Multicultural Competence Meets a Real Reality" Feb. 6, in the Advanced Technology and Science Hall Auditorium. The diversity leadership training targeted SRU students involved in the First-Year Leader Scholar Program, Peer Mentors, Jump Start and the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership Volunteer Corps. Brown engaged students through role-playing exercises and team building to teach lessons about diversity awareness so that students could apply leadership concepts at school, work and home. Brown created D.A.P. in 2007 while an undergraduate student at SRU and now presents programs at more than 100 colleges and universities from Delaware to California.
