As part of Slippery Rock University's Black History Month program, the Black Action Society offered a free Soul Food Tasting Feb. 21 in the Smith Student Center Ballroom. The event provided an opportunity for students to learn about getting involved with Black Action Society and a menu that included: fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, string beans, yams, black eyed peas, red beans, rice, corn bread and desserts. Soul food is a cuisine that originated in African-American culture and is closely related to the cuisine of the south. Photos by Benton Palermo, communication major from Beaver.
