SRU Honors Flute Ensemble takes stage Feb. 25-26

A group of 10 Slippery Rock University flute students will take the stage with 21 area high school students Feb. 25-26 for the 2017 Honors Flute Ensemble. The event will conclude with a group concert at 7 p.m., Feb. 26 in Swope Music Hall.

SRU student flutists include:

• Paula Hartsough, a senior music performance-instrumental major from Youngstown, Ohio;

• Paige Hargrave, a senior music performance-instrumental major from Lima, New York;

• Cassidy Shipley, a senior music education-instrumental major from Moon Township;

• Caroline Brown, a junior music education-instrumental major from Monroeville;

• Sydney Eastman, a junior math major from Centerville;

• Lauren Denny, an undeclared freshman from Butler;

• Jen Kvortek, a sophomore music education-instrumental major from New Kensington;

• Kellie DeLorenzo, a freshman music education major from Wampum;

• Jamie Coniglio, a freshman secondary education major from Greeley; and

• Kaila Decristofaro, a freshman math major from Girard, Ohio.

Joining the students will be guest artists Jennifer Steele from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra; Dan Parasky from Parasky Flute Studios in Murraysville; and Stephen Neely from Carnegie Mellon University.

The concert will feature the pieces "Whirl" by Gay Kahkonen and an arrangement of "Pure Imagination" by Bryan Kennard.
