SRU launches redesigned mySRU March 9

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University community will see a fresh look to the mySRU portal the evening of March 9 when the site is officially relaunched. Users should note that due to the relaunch, mySRU will be unavailable from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 9.

mySRU is the internal communication site for the University, providing quick access for students, faculty and staff in the areas of D2L, technology support, student support services, advising, email and campus alerts.

The updated portal will be a "one-stop shop" with a single sign-in point providing easy access to University applications, links to frequently used websites and targeted announcements. In addition, mySRU will allow for the storage of business documents that are used for departmental purposes.

"The new design will not only look better, but will be better organized and provide an improved flow and easier navigation," said Henry Magusiak, director, information and administrative technology services. "In a nutshell, the new layout is more logical than was its predecessor."

According to Magusiak, highlights include:

• Timely, relevant and accurate information based on a person's role (student, faculty or staff) at the University in an easy-to-use and accessible system;

• Access to multiple University websites and systems, including the Banner enterprise systems, with a single sign-in; and

• The site is mobile friendly.

Magusiak added that the facelift is merely the first phase of the mySRU project and additional content and accesses will continue to be added in the future. "It's an ongoing project," he said. "There will be much more to come."

The portal redesign was tested over a six-month period with input from constituencies across campus, including a recent review by the SRU Student Government Association. "We've received nothing but good, positive feedback," said Magusiak. "Everyone seems pleased with what we've put together.

"This project allows us to present the portal and its content in a more modern environment with an updated architecture that will benefit everyone."
