SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's Office of University Communication and Public Affairs staff has captured eight Gold, Silver and Bronze 2015 Collegiate Advertising Awards.

Sandy Busch, graphic communication director in the Office of University Communication and Public Affairs, was the big winner, taking home a Gold Award, in partnership with Jon Holtz, director of athletic communication, for the Matt Adams invitation and program for the Matt Adams jersey retirement ceremony; and a pair of Silver Awards for the magazine ad, "We've Got Your Number," and "Holocaust Remembrance" poster.

Aaron Moore, digital design director, had a hand in securing two Gold Awards, including: "Homecoming collateral" in the advertising specialty category; and for partnering with Darcy White, web communication director, on the social media marketing campaign for "Mascot Madness: Rocky's Campaign."

White also collected a Bronze Award for his redesign of the SRU official website, www.sru.edu.

Holtz also won a Gold Award for "2015 Field Hockey Game Day Cover" in the Sports Specific category.

The final Gold Award was presented for the University's "Commencement Time Lapse" video that was created in partnership with videographer Ryan McIntyre.

"I couldn't be prouder of the work being done by everyone in our office," said Rita Abent, executive director of University Communication and Public Affairs. "Every person - staff or student - works long and hard to make sure that we're producing high quality pieces, regardless of format, each and every time. This group of awards is especially meaningful given that we compete against some of the top advertising and marketing firms in the country."

The Collegiate Advertising Awards is an elite national program seeking to recognize today's most talented marketing professionals for outstanding excellence in all forms of advertising, marketing and promotion specific to higher education products and services.

All entries are judged (per category) by a panel of design and education marketing professionals with decades of combined experience. Entries are judged on: Creativity, Layout/Design, Typography, Production, Quality and Overall Effectiveness.

These latest accolades bring the number of awards won by SRU University Communication and Public Affairs staff this year to 20, including those previously announced by CUPRAP and Educational Advertising.
