Slippery Rock University's adapted physical activity program partnered with the Special Olympics' Interscholastic Unified Sports program to host high school students from Grove City, Slippery Rock, Sharpsville and Hermitage in a special bocce tournament March 15 at Morrow Field House. The IUS program, which Special Olympics launched in 1989, intermingles students with and without disabilities on sports teams in an effort to build inclusion among both parties. Since January, students from SRU's APA program have donated their time to coach the bocce teams, while Special Olympics has paid for training, equipment and uniforms.
