SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The 2016-2017 Slippery Rock University Performing Arts Series will wrap up with a 7:30 p.m., March 31 performance in the University Union from "We've Only Just Begun: Carpenters Remembered."

The show, which has sold out multiple Las Vegas engagements, is the definitive showcase of the music of Richard and Karen Carpenter. One of the most successful recording acts of all time, the duo sold more than 100 million records in little more than a decade.

The show features a variety of hits, including: "For All We Know," "Goodbye to Love," "Hurting Each Other," "Please Mr. Postman," "Rainy Days and Mondays," "Superstar," "There's a Kind of Hush," "(They Long to Be) Close to You," "Top of the World," "We've Only Just Begun," and "Yesterday Once More."

In addition to the concert, lead vocalist Berting Brett will present a lecture on what society learned from Karen Carpenter's death at 32 from heart failure related to her struggles with anorexia. The lecture, at 5 p.m., March 30 in the University Union's Multipurpose Room, will address eating disorders and their prevalence in our culture, their causes and treatment. The lecture is free.

Tickets for the concert are priced at: $22 for adults; $20 for seniors (62 and older); $18 for youth (17 and younger); and $8 for SRU students.
