SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Former Slippery Rock University head football coach and safety management professor George Mihalik will be honored June 10 with a retirement celebration and scholarship kickoff event at the Robert M. Smith Student Center.

The event will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. and continue with a formal dinner and program at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are priced at $100 per person with all proceeds going to the formation of an annual scholarship in Mihalik's name.

Former football student-athletes, coaches, fans and former safety management students are invited to join Mihalik for a celebration of his career.

"I'm really looking forward to having a night to welcome back so many people from the last four decades that had an impact on me and my life here at The Rock," said Mihalik. "There are so many people from both the football and academic sides that were instrumental in my career and this will give us an opportunity to bring them all together."

Plans for the program include remarks from former SRU football players, administrators and safety management students, the premier of a video tribute to Mihalik and an address from the former Rock head football coach.

Additional information, including an official invitation and a list of speakers, will be available closer to the event.
