SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University Wind Ensemble will present "Summon the Heroes!" a one-movement orchestra composition, at 7:30 p.m., April 27, in Swope Music Hall. The presentation is part of SRU's 15th annual Kaleidoscope Arts Festival.

Jonathan Helmick, SRU assistant professor of music, will conduct.

"Summon the Heroes!" scored for a full orchestra, lasts six minutes. Written by composer John Williams, the piece was debuted at the 1996 Summer Olympics.

The Wind Ensemble is a symphonic wind-performing group. Student musicians perform pieces written for winds and percussion.

Tickets for "Summon the Heroes!" are $3 for students, $5 for general.

Kaleidoscope, SRU's 15th annual arts festival, runs from April 14-28. This year the festival will feature 28 dance, theatre, music, literary and visual arts events. Children's Day will be offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 23, at the Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainable Systems Education and Research. Programs will include earth-friendly activities.
