Slippery Rock University's Bailey Library hosted the grand opening of its recently relocated Special Collections Department April 13. The department boasts more than 2,000 items including books, audiotapes, art related to the collection and framed photographs. The majority of the collection, including pieces that date back to the 1800s, is shelved and encased behind glass. As part of the April 13 event, a number of SRU students took part, reading aloud from their own works, including: Rebecca Fox, a senior creative writing major from Rockford, Ohio, who read her short story titled “Inheritance;” Casey Arn, a junior creative writing major from Butler, who read “The Skin Book;” Ashleigh Myers, a junior creative writing major from Butler, who read “Magic Dirt;” and Rennae Allison, a senior creative writing major from Harrisville who read “The Past, The Present.” Photos by Jamie Greene, emerging technology and communication major from Moon Township.
