SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University will honor 28 graduate students with Outstanding Graduate Student Awards during its Graduate Admissions Honors Reception at 2 p.m., April 30 in the Russell Wright Alumni House.

Brandi Weber-Mortimer, graduate admissions director, will host the program. SRU President Cheryl Norton will welcome the honorees. Professors from the various academic departments will present the awards.

The counseling and development awards will go to:

  • Jessica Rumbaugh, a clinical mental health counseling major from Titusville;
  • Nicholas Jones, a student affairs with college counseling major from Baltimore, Maryland; and
  • DeWayne Anderson, a student affairs in higher education major from Harrisburg

The computer science award will go to:

  • Charles Frank, a health informatics major from Blue Bell

The criminal justice award will go to:

  • David Jones, a criminal justice major from Clarks Summit

The elementary education awards will go to:

  • Lindsay Zipparo, an elementary education K-12 reading specialist and instructional coaching literacy major from Sewickley; and
  • Ashley Uhrine, an elementary education K-8, mathematics and science major from Hookstown

The English award will go to:

  • Jean Shumway, an English major from Slippery Rock

The mathematics and statistics award will go to:

  • Asmail Habach, a data analytics major from Slippery Rock

The nursing department awards will go to:

  • Chelsea McKay, a nursing major with a school nurse certification from Aliquippa; and Kelley Dykstra, a nursing major with a school nurse certification from Canonsburg

The parks and recreation/environmental education awards will go to:

  • Jeff Zajac, an environmental education major from Windermere, Florida; and
  • Kristin Black, an environmental education major from Strasburg, Virginia

The physical and health education/adapted physical activity awards will go to:

  • Monica Klock , an adapted physical activity major from Fredericksburg, Virginia; and
  • Amanda O'Keefe, an adapted physical activity major from Cranberry Township

The School of Physical Therapy awards will go to doctor of physical therapy students:

  • Carolyn Britton from Meadville;
  • Stephanie Smigiera from West Seneca, New York;
  • Krista Caldwell from Gilbertsville; and
  • Chelsea Siddons from Lewistown

The College of Business awards will go to:

  • Ashley McCollum, a Master of Business Administration major from Karns City; and
  • Jeff Geibel, a Master of Business Administration major from Butler

The secondary education award will go to:

  • Anthony Balos, a secondary education/history major from Slippery Rock

The special education awards will go to:

  • Megan Kloos, a special education/autism major from Mercer;
  • Jeanette Monteith, a special education major with a supervision certification from Falling Waters, West Virginia;
  • Cari Boozel, a special education major from Butler;
  • Rachel Pasquerilla, a special education major from Northfield, Ohio; and
  • Chad Roland, a special education major from Apollo

The teaching English to speakers of other languages award will go to:

  • Vanessa MacKinnon, a teaching English to speakers of other languages major from Charleroi
